Friends of Fusion band records their second album
Friends of Fusion got busy recording for their second album at a city studio recently. The first one was way back in 2009. Said Neel Dutt one of the band members, “The first album comprised heritage Indian music in today’s sound. This one, called Four by One, is a bit edgier.”
The members might have been novices at promotion that time around but their album went on to win nominations for the Best Fusion Album and Best Debutante at the Global Indian Music Awards.

This time around, the band is testing new waters. Added Neel, “There’s this 80-year old music company that is coming out with an album from Bengal after 10-15 years. The brand wants to venture into contemporary music. This album has eight songs, one Bengali folk, one Punjabi, a bhajan with Latin elements incorporated in it and devotional tracks. There’s a tinge of jazz, punk and rock. We feel that the band should have a populist appeal. Our music is structured and not impromptu jam.”
The band will first be launching the album digitally on November 10. It will be a global release. “To start with, the music will now be available only on international music sites. If you pay, you can download, that’s the whole idea. This phase over, we will be out with the audio CD and a music video to promote it nationally. But we are yet to decide the track for the video,” Neel signs off.
